It was a successful day of heats for the Irish crews at the European Rowing Championships 2025 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, with all boats securing places in either A or B Finals. Four crews will compete in semi-finals tomorrow, while the remaining crews will race their finals on Saturday and Sunday.

M2- | Daire Lynch & Ross Corrigan

The newly formed men’s pair of Daire Lynch and Ross Corrigan delivered a strong performance in a highly competitive and experienced heat, finishing fourth with a time of 06:26.82 to secure a place in the A/B semi-final.

Semi Final: Friday, 30th May – 8:32am IST (Lane 1)

M2x | Fintan McCarthy & Konan Pazzaia

The men’s double sculls crew of Fintan McCarthy and Konan Pazzaia delivered a strong performance, finishing second in their heat with a time of 06:09.69 to qualify for the A/B semi-final. They maintained a composed and competitive race, holding off a late challenge from the Norwegian crew in the final 200 metres.

M4x | Philip Doyle, Ronan Byrne, Adam Murphy & Andrew Sheehan

The men’s quadruple sculls crew, featuring two Olympians Philip Doyle and Ronan Byrne, finished fourth in their heat but posted an impressive time of 05:51.28 to qualify for the semi-final, eliminating the home favourites, Bulgaria.

W1x | Fiona Murtagh

Fiona Murtagh delivered an impressive performance in the women’s single sculls, finishing first in her heat with a clear half-length of open water at the finish line. She posted a time of 07:21.15.

LW1x | Izzy Clements

Izzy Clements delivered a strong performance in the lightweight women’s single sculls preliminary race, finishing second with a time of 07:37.31 to secure lane 4 for the A Final. The race marked her Irish debut at international level.

LM1x | Jake McCarthy

Jake secured a place in the A Final of the lightweight men’s single sculls (LM1x) with a second-place finish in his heat, clocking a time of 07:03.84.

W2x | Mags Cremen & Zoe Hyde

In her heavyweight debut, Mags Cremen, racing alongside Zoe Hyde in the women’s double sculls, secured a place in the A Final with a second-place finish in their heat, posting a time of 06:51.82.

A Final: Saturday, 31st May – 10:25am IST (Lane 2)

W4x | Alison Bergin, Aisling Hayes, Natalie Long & Claire Feerick

The newly formed women’s quadruple sculls crew made history as the first Irish women’s quad to race at an international regatta. Facing the reigning Olympic and world champions in a challenging heat, the W4x finished fifth and qualified for the B Final.

B Final: Sunday, 1st June – 7:30am IST (Lane 4)
