The highly anticipated kickoff to the 2024/25 rowing season is just around the corner, with the first erg monitoring assessment and time trial taking place this October. This event signals the official start of the new international season and offers a golden opportunity for U19, U23, Senior, and Para athletes to make their mark. For any rower with aspirations of national selection, this is a critical first step—submitting your erg scores and attending the trial is essential to showcase your potential. While athletes from the 2024 Olympic Games are not required to attend, they are more than welcome to submit their scores and participate if they wish.

Erg Monitoring
Erg monitoring for the 2024/25 season will take place on the weekend of October 12th and 13th.

The testing format is as follows:

Saturday Morning:
100m + 500m at open rate. A 20-minute break should be taken between the 100m and 500m tests. Times should be recorded.

Saturday Afternoon:
6k (3k for adaptive athletes) at open rate. Times should be recorded.

Sunday Afternoon:
30 minutes at Rate 20. Distance covered should be recorded.
Erg scores must be submitted to clara.obrien@rowingireland.ie no later than 7pm on October 14th.

Water Trial
The first time trial of the 2024/25 season will take place at the NRC on the 19th and 20th of October.

Athletes and coaches are reminded that while this is an open event, we are specifically looking for athletes with the potential to be selected for the World Championship team (Senior, U23, U19, and Adaptive) as well as junior athletes with the potential to win a medal at the Coupe de la Jeunesse.

Athletes are invited to participate in this time trial in singles or pairs on both days. The distance of the time trial is yet to be confirmed and will be announced shortly.

In some cases, athletes may be asked to move into crew boats on day 2 if deemed appropriate by the High Performance Director. This will be communicated to clubs and individuals after the races on day 1.

Coaches are asked to enter their athletes by 7pm on Monday, October 14th, by emailing clara.obrien@rowingireland.ie. Please also indicate their category for the 2023 season (Senior, U23, U19, and Adaptive) and the boat class (1x or 2-) to be entered. Once entries are received, we will publish start times and a start list for those entered.

Important Reminder
Affiliation: All athletes and their clubs must be affiliated and registered with Rowing Ireland.

Additional details about the upcoming trials for the 2024/25 season will be announced soon.
