Rowing Ireland – COVID-19 Update

24.03.20

The Rowing Ireland Working Group on Covid-19 met on 24/3/20. Updates over the last week from Government, HSE, Department of Health (NI), Sport Ireland and Sport NI were discussed.

In line with updates and guidance, we ask the following:

  • All RI Clubs should cease all activities in the interest of all their members.
  • The Working Group will consider the implications of no competition on the Novice grade when more clarity on the Season becomes available.
  • Umpires who have a provincial licence will not need to re-sit their test and can carry the two regatta requirement to later on this year or next year.

We are aware that there is still a lot of unknown’s in society and sport at present and we will continue to make decisions for the safety of our community as soon as more information becomes available to us.

A present we would ask all our members to stay safe and follow HSE and NHS guidelines of hand hygiene, distance restrictions etc. We would encourage you to stay at home and keep active as much as possible.

Rowing Ireland will continue to update you with activities on all our social media platforms and on our website as we have done over the last week.

Stay safe

Yours in rowing
