Rowing Ireland is thrilled to announce the commencement of a comprehensive strategic planning initiative set to chart our course for the years ahead, with a specific focus on the period beyond 2024.
In an effort to ensure the success of this important endeavour, Rowing Ireland is preparing to engage in a meaningful consultation process with our valued member clubs. This vital collaboration will be expertly facilitated by the renowned sports strategist, Brian MacNeice, who will join forces with us on this pivotal project.
We anticipate that this consultation will take place prior to the second quarter of 2024, and we are excited about the insights and perspectives that will be gathered from our club members as we set our strategic direction for the future.
Rowing Ireland is committed to enhancing the sport of rowing and looks forward to the positive impact this strategic planning will have on our community, athletes, and stakeholders.
We are dedicated to ensuring the optimal experience for our members and the sport’s growth. As we embark on our strategic journey towards 2024 and beyond, we recognise the significance of the calendar structure in the sport and its impact on our community. While we envisage that there may not be sufficient time to make changes to the structure of the 2024 calendar, we are actively addressing this recurring concern.
The structure of the calendar is a matter of ongoing importance for our membership, and Rowing Ireland is currently in the early stages of scoping potential options for future seasons. We want to approach this endeavour with the utmost care and consideration, involving our members in the decision-making process.
Simultaneously, Rowing Ireland has initiated preliminary reviews of the structure of the flatwater calendar. To facilitate transparent and collaborative decision-making, we plan to conduct a roadshow in the first quarter of 2024. This roadshow will provide an opportunity for clubs to share their insights and perspectives on potential options for the calendar starting in 2025 and beyond.
In line with our commitment to transparency and communication, the provisional 2024 calendar will be made available to our members in the coming weeks. The publication date will be confirmed once the date for an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) is established.
Rowing Ireland remains dedicated to enhancing the sport of rowing and ensuring that the calendar structure aligns with the needs and aspirations of our membership.
