Social and Recreational Rowing is growing and making clubs stronger and more diverse, benefiting the community and membership alike. Running a social regatta can bring another event to the club; read more about Sligo RC’s successful social regatta last weekend below.

Sligo Rowing Club held its first Social regatta in ideal conditions with over 40 club rowers taking part along with 5 rowers from Ballina Rowing club. Rowers rowed in the clubs 2 kanghua recreational boats over a distance of 350m . Each crew got to row twice with crews being drawn at random and as it happened 3 Ballina rowers were in the winning boat. The crew were presented with the inaugural Sligo Social Rowing Cup . The club hope to expand on this in the next number of years and hope that other clubs can come along to what promises to be a fun and relaxed regatta .

The club held a Her Outdoors Day on Saturday 19th of August with a try rowing day and are currently running a learn to row programme with some of the participants that showed an interest . Sligo Rowing Club would like to thank Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership for their continued support.
