Over 50 crews took to the water last Saturday, 28th March, for the Swift Racing Coastal Senior Championships hosted by Courtmacsherry Rowing Club. The day delivered thrilling races, standout performances, and a showcase of both experienced athletes and rising junior talent.
The Ring Rowing Club Men’s Open Double, featuring Neil O’Sullivan and Noel Creedon, delivered a standout performance, claiming victory in the final with a time of 18 minutes 22 seconds. In the Men’s Open Scull, Noel Creedon took first place in a time of 19 minutes 54 seconds
Monika Dukarska of Killorglin Rowing Club won the Women’s Open Scull with a time of 22 minutes 32 seconds. She then partnered with Fiola Foley to capture the Women’s Open Double in 19 minutes 27 seconds, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and speed.
Although this was a senior championship, junior rowers also impressed. Gabrielle O’Donoghue of Rosscarbery Rowing Club secured third place in the Women’s Open Scull. She partnered with Katie Dunne of Wicklow Rowing Club to finish third in the Women’s Open Double Scull, showing great promise for future competitions.
