Bann Rowing Club successfully ran a Women on the Water Programme this July and August. You can read more about it and how to get involved in this initiative below.
Bann Rowing Club recruited 13 women to try rowing for the first time at their club in Coleraine this summer. The women were coached the basics of water safety, how to launch a boat to the full rowing stroke. 7 of the women have taken up membership in the club following the programme and some have joined the Masters Squad.
Well done to Bann Rowing Club, in particular Sue McLauglin for facilitating an excellent initiative for women in the community.
Running a Women on the Water programme can be very beneficial for your club. There is support available from Rowing Ireland’s women in sport officer to help you to do this.
You can read about Women on the Water under the ‘Women in Sport’ tab on the Rowing Ireland website, where you can fill in an expression of interest to take part or host a programme. Alternatively, you can email womeninsport@rowingireland.ie
