Six boats competed in the World Rowing Under 23 Championships today, in Racice, Czech Republic. The Coxed Men’s Four won a Silver Medal, three crews qualified for an A final and two crews for B Finals on Sunday.

The Coxed Men’s Four won Silver in the A Final on Saturday afternoon. Finn O’Reilly, Andrew Sheehan, Ryan Spelman, Adam Murphy and Leah O’Regan (cox) finished second behind the Italian crew. They competed against crews from the USA, Germany, Italy, Nederlands, and France. They finished with a time of 06:12.84 to take home the Silver Medal.

Cliodhna Nolan finished third in the LW1x A/B Semi-Final, with a final time of 07:38.20. Cliodhna made a final sprint from the 1,750-metre mark, rising to third place to secure her place in the A Final, which will take place on Sunday morning.

Hugh Moore competed in the LM1x A/B Semi-Final, finishing fourth with a time of 07:05.07. Hugh made efforts to reach third place and qualify for the A Final but just missed out to Estonian rower Elar Loot. Hugh will race in the B Final on Sunday morning.

Ross Corrigan, John Kearney, Alex Byrne and Jack Dorney competed in the M4- Semi-Final, placing first with a time of 05:55.10. The team gained an early lead but were challenged by the British rowing team, who closed the gap to half a boat length. Ross and team pulled away, gaining a three-second lead over the British crew as they crossed the finish line. The M4- crew, will now race in the A final on Sunday morning.

Eoin Gaffney and Rory O’Neill raced in the LM2x Semi-Final, finishing second with a time of 06:23.82. Eoin and Rory raced alongside Germany, competing for first place, placing just behind the German crew. Eoin and Rory will race on Sunday morning in the A Final.

Alison Bergin competed in the Women’s Single Sculls Semi-Final, placing fourth with a final time of 07:47.38, securing her place in the B Final on Sunday morning. Alison faced tough competition from Germany, South Africa and the Czech Republic.
