Rowing Ireland Offshore committee would like to thank the host club, Rosscarbery Rowing Club and all the volunteers for a superb day of beach sprints racing on Duneen Beach, Clonakilty. Co. Cork. Beach Sprints are likely to be the next Olympic Sport for Los Angeles 2028, for coastal rowing. Massive thanks to the boat supplier on the day-Kanghua Coastal. 

With the sun out, and calm conditions,  the scene was set from early morning with a full day of racing in place. We were also treated to a pod of Pilot whales breaching the surface close to shore. The excitement was in full mode with races starting every 10 minutes. 91 Athletes, 57 crews from 19 clubs raced for the titles to qualify in their respective categories. 

  • The Qualifier determined who will represent Ireland at the following: 
  • The Home International Beach Sprints in St. Andrews, Scotland. 
  • The (WRBSF) World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals, Wales, Uk. 
  • The European Coastal Beach Sprint Championships, San Sebastian, Spain.
