Nearly 200 crews of all ages, abilities and boat classes took to the River Lagan last Saturday, 17th May, for fast, close racing at Belfast Sprint Regatta. Glorious weather throughout the day meant ideal conditions for rowing the 500m from the Governor’s Bridge to Belfast Rowing Club.
The Victor Ludorum Perpetual Challenge Trophy for the most successful club was shared by Methody and Enniskillen with 12 wins apiece, closely followed by QUBBC on 11 wins, but every club took home at least one win! Full results available here.
New events were particular highlights, including J14, J15 and J16 octuple sculls flying up the course with great enthusiasm. Invitational novice masters coxed quads provided competitive racing for masters rowers who have been rowing less than five years, and proved enjoyable for all involved as they continue to develop their skills.
Belfast Rowing Club is very grateful for the support of Belfast City Council, NI Department for Communities, all competing clubs and of course the army of officials and volunteers who help everything run safely and smoothly.
Well done to all participants on fantastic racing!
