Rowing Ireland successfully delivered an Introduction to Coaching Course in Limerick last weekend, welcoming 18 enthusiastic young rowers and parents from Shannon Rowing Club and Castleconnell Boat Club.

The course provided participants with the foundational skills and knowledge needed to begin supporting coaching activities within their clubs. Designed as an entry point into coaching, the session focused on creating positive training environments, understanding athlete development, and building confidence in assisting club coaches both on and off the water.

It was particularly encouraging to see strong engagement from young athletes alongside parents, reflecting the growing commitment within clubs to develop coaching capacity and support the next generation of rowers.

Rowing Ireland extends sincere thanks to Coach Developers John Dillon and Kenny Mac Donald, who delivered the course and shared their experience and expertise with participants throughout the day.

Further Introduction to Coaching courses will take place across the country later this month, with upcoming sessions scheduled in Portadown, Courtmacsherry, Ballycotton, and Donegal Town. These courses form part of Rowing Ireland’s ongoing commitment to supporting clubs, volunteers, and emerging coaches nationwide.
