Irish Rowing Championships: 20-22nd August 2021

The Irish Rowing Championships are the highlight of the domestic rowing season. This event, which is both volunteer-led and volunteer-delivered, requires a large number of volunteers to deliver the high-quality event that our athletes deserve. This year in particular, we require additional help from our clubs as many of our traditional helps are unavailable for various reasons.

To assist in the running of the event we are looking to recruit a number of volunteers. The details of the positions are set out below. Please consider supporting Rowing Ireland by volunteering.

Launch Drivers

Duties – The crews are ready for The Champs but they can’t hit the water until our team of launch drivers are in place. To ensure safety, fair racing, and marshalling we need experienced launch drivers who are happy to put themselves into this high-octane racing environment.

Shifts – There are morning and afternoon shifts Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Marshals

Duties – Marshals will control access to the gates into the compound/slip area – only rowers and coaches are allowed within the rowing compound; no spectators are allowed.

Shifts – There are morning and afternoon shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Event Doctor

Duties – While an ambulance and paramedics will be on-site for the duration of the event, we require a doctor on call in case of emergency.

Shifts – There are morning and afternoon shifts Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

If you wish to volunteer for one of the positions, or require any additional details, please contact champs-vm@rowingireland.ie

These are unpaid volunteer positions but each volunteer will be provided with meals throughout the event and will also receive a souvenir polo-shirt.
