Rowing Ireland launches Virtual Training Challenge

Rowing Ireland is launching a Virtual Training Challenge (VTC) to bring some fun and competitive challenges to our training. This challenge is open to Junior scullers in the age categories of J14, J15, J16 and J18.

Over the two-week window, we invite juniors to complete the 3km distance in their scull from their training venue. Record the distance on a GPS device* and upload it to the Rowing Ireland VTC platform. You can keep up to date on where you place in the challenge against others in your Province or Coastal/Offshore category.

You can register throughout the competition and you can complete the challenge as many times as you like. The leader in each category, when the clock strikes midnight, on the 20th of December, will win a Provincial Winner long sleeve top! Spot prices will also be up for grabs throughout the two-week challenge.

All participants must be a member of a Rowing Ireland affiliated club and a registered Rowing Ireland member. We expect all Covid guidelines to be adhered to whilst completing the VTC.

Depending on the success of this challenge, we hope to run more for all rowing ages and categories in the New Year.

Track your result and the results across the island here.

* Smartphone + GPS Tracking App, GPS watch, or NK Speed Coach with Training Pack can be used to record your distance and time. For more information on devices/apps you can use, read here.

We aim to have no phones damaged in the process so – please ensure your phone is sealed in a waterproof case or bag before bringing it in the boat!
