As part of its ongoing commitment to being an athlete-centred National Governing Body, Rowing Ireland recently issued a call for nominations for the role of Athlete Director on the Rowing Ireland Board.
Rowing Ireland is pleased to have received a strong level of interest in the position, and as a result, an election will now take place.
In line with the Terms of Reference for the role, this election requires the formation of an electorate comprising both current and former athletes.
Who is Eligible to Vote?
Eligible voters are those who have represented Rowing Ireland at one or more of the following:
- Olympic Games
- Paralympic Games
- World Championships
- European Championships
- Coupe de la Jeunesse
- Home International Regattas
To be eligible, voters must:
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of the election
- Be a member of a Rowing Ireland-affiliated club
- Have represented Rowing Ireland within the last 12 years
- Register to Vote
All current 2026 High Performance athletes will be contacted directly and facilitated to vote. However, Rowing Ireland is aware that there may be a significant number of former athletes who are eligible to vote but whose contact details are not currently held.

Timeline
Rowing Ireland aims to complete the election process in advance of the upcoming AGM, where the newly elected Athlete Director will be announced on 24 May.
