Swift Irish Coastal Championships

The 2023 Swift Irish Coastal Championships held by Loughros Point Rowing Club took place this weekend in Narin Beach, Portnoo over Saturday and Sunday. All racing was held over a 4K ocean course with the weather providing a variety of challenging and wet conditions throughout the weekend! Huge well done to all the competitors and to Loughros Point Rowing Club on hosting such a brilliant event.

It was an incredible weekend for Killorglin Rowing Club with wins in the CW4X+, CW2x and CW1x. These wins mean that they hold the title in the CW4x+ for 6 consecutive years, CW2x for 5 consecutive years and the CW1x for 5 consecutive years and they are the first club to achieve this in the history of coastal rowing in Ireland.

Rosscarbery also had great successes this weekend with a win in the Mixed 2x, Mixed J18 4x in a composite with Ring RC and the Women’s 4x, also in a composite with Ring RC! They also had a second place finish in their composite with Wicklow in the CM4X+ behind Cairndhu.

The Mens 1x was also a great battle with Miramon Quiroga from Wicklow RC coming in first place, Mannix from Rosscarbery coming in second place and Domingo from Dublin City Coastal coming in third.

We would like to also say a huge thanks to the event sponsors Swift Racing Ireland and Rowfit on their continued support of the event.

We are now looking forward to seeing more to come in coastal rowing in the next few weeks with the 2023 European Rowing Coastal & Beach Sprint Championships taking place on the 1-3rd of September.

Coupe de la Jeunesse 2023

The Coupe de la Jeunesse took place this weekend in Amsterdam, The Netherlands this weekend also. We had five crews racing this weekend in the JM4x, JW1x, JM4, JW4x and JM2x.

Day one of racing saw us off to a great start as team Ireland finished the day off with two bronze medals in the JM2x and JM4+! It also saw Moya Knowles from Skibbereen finishing in 5th place in the A final, the JW4x coming in 2nd in the B final and the JM4x coming 5th in the B final. It was a great day of racing and had the crews confident going into day 2.

Day two also didn’t disappoint with another two bronze medals in the JM2x and JM4+. Moya Knowles also had a close podium result coming in 4th place in the JW1x A final. The JW4x came first place in the B final and the JM4x came 3rd in their B final also.

Huge well done to all the rowers and their clubs!
