After carefully looking at all the weather models and discussing Sunday morning weather conditions with local and HP coaches we are going to move forward with Sunday Mornings Home International Trial.

We have a window of decent weather from 9am until 12pm Sunday morning with a crosswind of 13 to 17kph. The Trial will consist of one 2k race only in the format of timed heats. After all the timed heats are raced the Team Manager will announce the selected athletes via the website Monday morning 10th July.

The Updated Draw can be found here, please note the earlier start time of 9.45am https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/175dhPspXJWtSCpc9VsGsrhDV2cnRn0Ao/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=115432476262233368838&rtpof=true&sd=true

As always we are unable to control the weather, at the moment we have a window of good weather but this is constantly changing. If the weather takes a drastic turn for the worse we may have to cancel at short notice as the safety of all our athletes is paramount.

We are hoping to pick the strongest team possible to represent our Country at this years Home International Regatta in Lough Rinn, we ask all Coaches and athletes to please work with us to ensure this happens. Sunday morning we will need launch drivers, umpires, starters, finishers and stakeboat personnel for the 2 hours, if you are available to help please come forward and let us know Sunday.

Any queries or questions on the above please contact Team Manager Mike McDonagh at mikemcdonagh2009@gmail.com

Following on from the 1k update a decision will be made on the Home International Trial once the Championship committee have decided on the 1k Classic.

In the meantime, here is a link to the updated draw for the trial this Sunday

3rd time lucky. We would like to thank all clubs for their patience during this period of unsettled weather. We have listened to the feedback from clubs on running the next trial and we agree with clubs that it would be unfair to ask athlete’s to race another 2k race during the championships.

We are going to persevere with running the Trial on the 9th July but as this is in the middle of champs preparations we are asking athletes to race one 2k race only. This will be in the form of timed heats with the fastest times going forward to represent our Country at the Home Internationals in Lough Rinn on the 22nd July.

We are opening the Trial signup again for Withdrawals and Additions. Any new athlete’s wishing to now trial must also send in their most recent 2k. We will move forward with last Sundays draw unless club secretaries inform us of withdrawals or additions.

All updates MUST be sent to strategicbusiness@rowingireland.ie before 5pm on Tuesday 4th July. The updated draw will be posted before Wednesday 5th July

Unfortunately the trial for the Home International selections planned for the NRC for tomorrow has now had to be postponed again due to the adverse wind conditions.

We have listened to clubs and have tried our utmost to accommodate clubs and run the trial on the 2nd July however we have sent members of the management team to the NRC this morning and the on-site winds are blowing in excess of the forecasted speeds. We have also spoken to local coaches and HP coaches at the NRC this morning. We Apologise for the inconvenience caused to clubs but it would be more inconvenient if clubs were to travel tomorrow for the trial then to be cancelled.

We have left it as late as possible to make this call as we hoped the winds would drop but now need to make the call on this before trailers start arriving. We apologies for the inconvenience this causes.

The current plan is to reschedule this for Sunday 09th, more details will follow.
